1991-92 Impel DC Cosmic Cards #22- Golden Age Cheetah

Question: Was Priscilla Rich the first regularly appearing sympathetic compulsive villain? I wonder how many people realize the Green Goblin was a Cheetah rip-off?

Another cool often overlooked thing about Wonder Woman is that she has a history of successfully rehabilitating her villains. Rich was nuts, and caused trouble as the Cheetah for years, until the Amazons finally managed to resolve her personality disorder... which stuck. Transformation Island: 1, Arkham Asylum: -871,744.

Speaking of Batman, his franchise was under license at another trading card company, which freed up room for three Cheetah cards! Sure, they were part of a triptych series that looked at multi-generational characters, and Cheetah was Wonder Woman's token offering, but that's still pretty sweet service.

LOVE the Arkham Asylum joke!

Also, you should scan all three cards in and make a single image for the blog. The same for the Wonder Woman triptych. I liked the way those laid out in the 9-pocket loaders.

Now if they'd only done a three card triptych for Doctor Fate... a boy can dream.

I had a math test today. Don't forget the Transformation Island/Arkham base ratio, as you'll have to multiply for each additional Amazonian rehabilitation.

I was thinking of running some of the three card sets, but Cheetah's & Wonder Woman's line up poorly. Superman and Captain Marvel at DC Bloodlines are more likely. Here's a Marvel favorite by Steranko.

A Dr. Fate triptych would be even more interesting today, but it would probably work better as a nine panel grid. Have you ever expressed your thoughts on Jared Stevens? I figure you're cool with the more faithful Doctors (Who allusion intentional.)

That Steranko triptych is a winner!

True, a Doctor Fate triptych nowadays would be a lot more interesting. In regard to Jared Stevens, I never really read much of his stuff. I read his first issue or so and dropped the title. I suppose I should pick those up someday, but I've never had a strong urge to.

Loved the Doctor Who reference! You know your readers!

Fate's first story arc was weak, but the second six months onward were actually pretty cool. I think Len Kaminki took over as writer and Alan Scott became a regular supporting character. Stay away from Giffen's Book of Fate relaunch though, as it is thoroughly terrible.
